AUSTRALIAN DOCUMENTARY REMEMBERS SHOCKING TIBETAN NUN MURDER.

The world was shocked when the Tibet nun, Kelsang Namtso, was killed when Chinese border police opened fire on a group of pilgrims as they fled Tibet over the infamous Nangpa Pass.  Nearly three years later and in the lead up to the 50th Anniversary of the Dalai Lama’s exile, SBS TV will air February 19 at 8.30pm, TIBET: Murder in the Snow – a new documentary which uses original climber footage, reenactments and interviews with witnesses and survivors to tell the story of young Tibetans who risk their lives each year to illegally cross the rugged Himalaya Mountains in an attempt to see their spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, or attend school in India.

"Leaving Fear Behind" an inside into Tibet, its people and how they feel about the current Chinese occupation, the Beijing olympics and the Dalai Lama - filmed by two fearless Tibetans living inside Tibet, Dhondup Wangchen and Golog Jigme.

The annual Festival of Tibet, organised by the Tibetan Community of NSW, is on THIS SUNDAY 6th July 2008 at Petersham Town Hall (107 Crystal Street, Petersham) from 11.00am - 4.00pm.

To celebrate the birthday of His Holiness the Dalai Lama's 73rd birthday.The event will be "a day in Tibet" for Australians to experience Tibetan culture, dress, song, dance and food.

General admission tickets $20.00 (Available at the door)
Admission includes a great Tibetan lunch, cultural displays and entertainment.

Australian Solidarity with Tibet Rally will be held on Saturday 21st June 2008 at Hyde Park, Sydney from 10am to 2pm. This will be one of the biggest Tibetan rallys ever held in Sydney. Everyone is welcome so please bring your friends and family to help show support to the people of Tibet.

On June 18th, Tibetans and supporters worldwide will participate in a Global Day of Action to protest the Olympic torch in Tibet, speak out against China’s ongoing crackdown, and demand immediate press access to Tibet. Organised by Students for a Free Tibet.

The Dome,Sydney Showground,Sydney Olympic Park - 11-15th June, 2008. Norbulingka Institute in Dharamsala, India will be exhibiting their applique and painted Thangkas along with Buddha statues at His Holiness the Dalai Lama's coming teachings at The Dome, Sydney Showground, Sydney Olympic Park in June 2008.

Adelaide will be holding its own rally in solidarity. Speakers from the South Australian Tibetan community and SA Greens Senator Sarah Hanson-Young.

• Stop the torch going through Tibet
• Call on the Chinese government to allow an independent investigation team into Tibet
• Call on the Australian government to continue to call on China to enter dialogue with the Dalai Lama

Our Community would like to invite you to join us again to demonstrate our depth of feeling for those suffering in Tibet today.

We want to make more public the atrocities and brutality that is rampant by the Communist Chinese Government toward a peaceloving and gentle people, who have had their country, their culture and their freedom that we take so much for granted, viciously stolen from them. You are most welcome to come along and chant the compassion mantra with us.
